On a special Memorial Day edition, Nathan Hagar of Bloomberg Radio and Burt Flickinger discussed the tremendous retail rebound, including record levels of Obesity (40+% Adult) & Children (19+%) leading to record-breaking increases in clothing purchases. Leisure and workwear are also doing extremely well (Dick's Sporting Goods, Lululemon) and also Dillard's in the Sunbelt, Macy's nationwide. Things are looking up for Target, Walmart as well as Home Improvement (Lowes with transformational leadership & Home Depot), and Pets because of pet adoptions during the pandemic. Also, the largely unreported effects of inflation on food service versus grocery purchases, and the return of retail promotional programs for the best bargains in a decade.
